Responsible tourism: limit the impact

During the excursions
Minimize erosion: do not be groped to create a new path or take a shortcut. Stay on marked trails where you can, even if they are muddy or there is space to walk along the edge.

While enjoying the view, be careful where you put your feet! The native flora can have cycles of growth very slow, especially at high altitudes or extreme latitudes. It can take years to grow back after being crushed by your muddy boots.

Take home with you if the waste can not be properly disposed of along the way. Bring a sturdy water bottle and boiled or purified drinking water rather than buying bottled water: the empty water bottles are becoming the scourge of the 21st century ...

personal Hygiene
The tent pegs are good palette: if you need along the trail, dug a deep hole at least 15 cm (30 cm best in hot areas), on the lower side of the path, preferably at least 100 meters away.

Bring a lighter and burn the toilet paper. If there is danger of fire, or the ground is too hard or rocky to dig a hole, use layers of leaves or rocks for cover. Be sure to be at least 100 meters from any watercourse.

Water, a precious commodity
If you take a bath or swim, given the sensitivity of the local population - both in terms of clothing, and the fact that you are using "their" water. Swim downstream from the collection points of the water or from the villages and avoid using soaps (especially if they contain phosphate) in the clean waters.
